The Boomerang Coast to Coaster Roller Coaster at the Great Escape Amusement Park in Lake George, New York. This is a Vekoma Shuttle coaster. The Great Escape opened in 1954 as Storytown USA a five-acre theme park commemorating Mother Goose. Three years later the park that was geared to small children opened its Ghost Town, the first of many themed areas that would be added over the years. Twenty-nine years later in 1983 the park retired the Storytown USA name and became The Great Escape. Today, Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom theme park and waterpark are two parks for one admission price, spanning more than 140 acres and featuring more than 135 rides, shows and attractions. The park is located near Lake George on Route 9, between exits 19 and 20 off I-87. This park has a few great rides for adults but as of recently they have been putting in ride to attreact children and families. If you are looking for thrill rides this park will be a dissappointment and will take only 1/2 day to visit. The Comet is their best coaster and is an excellent top rated wooden coaster. The Boomerang is also a good Shuttle Coaster at the park.
